About the Artist

Late to Art but Loving It

It's never too late to create

I grew up with a mother who painted like Monet.   I was intimidated by her skill and  busy earning a living in the health care industry so I did not pursue art until I retired in 2014.  I transitioned through digital art, charcoal and oil until I found pastels in 2019 and that has been my focus ever since.  I have studied with numerous teachers and have tried portraits, figurative and landscape subjects.  As much as I love portraits, I have found my challenge in seascapes and figurative work.

I love capturing the impact and messiness of waves hitting the rocky cliffs of Northern California.  The changing light, power and mood of the sea  always thrills and amazes.  It’s a challenge to capture these moods in two dimensions!
